International research phase

For IGSSE, the doctoral researchers’ individual expansion of their research environment and the development of international networks is a major goal. Therefore, a research stay of an at least three months duration is part of the IGSSE Qualification Program.

Doctoral researchers are supported with specific funds to accomplish this requirement. Please note that within this part of the qualification program only stays of at least four weeks can be credited. For international short-term exchanges and conferences, other funds from the doctoral researchers´ budget are available.

TUM holds many international partnerships, e.g. within the EuroTech or GlobalTech frameworks. Either these or the doctoral researcher´s chair provides an excellent network to support the first steps to find a suitable international partner institution.

Recommended stage for the research stay abroad is approximately 1.5 years of doctoral research (provided positive interim evaluation).
