Project 13.09: Joint workshop on hypersonic flows between Bavaria and Australia

On July 21 and 22, 2021, IGSSE Project Team 13.09 has run a workshop together with its international partners at the University of Queensland and the German Aerospace Center (DLR).

The workshop aimed at strengthening the connection between the researchers across borders involving the Australian team from the Center for Hypersonics and the Bavarian researchers from the Chair of Aerodynmics and Fluid Mechanics at the Technical University of Munich and the team at DLR Oberpfaffenhofen. 15 participants have worked together on the topic of 'hypersonic flows' encompassing laminar-turbulent transition, interaction with high-temperature surfaces (ablation), shock-wave boundary-layer interaction as well as presentations on research rocket application in the high-speed regime.

During these two days, the teams have shared expertise and spotted opportunities for future research. Thanks to digital possibilities, such online events enable intercultural and interdisciplinary exchange despite long distances and current limitations.
