EIT Urban Mobility - Doctoral Training Network
A European initiative to create more liveable urban spaces
As part of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), the EIT Urban Mobility acts to accelerate positive change on mobility to make urban spaces more liveable by engaging cities and citizens, putting new mobility solutions into practice, and reclaiming public space for public use.
Within the EIT Urban Mobility Academy, the new Doctoral Training Network (DTN) is a collective of universities, academics, and doctoral researchers that seek to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the field of urban mobility based on the knowledge triangle of education, research and innovation, and business creation. The program provides doctoral candidates with a platform for exchange and feedback on their individual research as well as networking opportunities with practitioners and senior researchers. A four- to six-month international research placement is included in the program.
The first cohort of DTN doctoral candidates started in 2020. Doctoral researchers from participating EIT Urban Mobility partner universities are invited to join the Doctoral Training Network. This is a great opportunity for them to broaden their educational horizon by acquiring skills in innovation and entrepreneurship. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between research and innovation and to extend personal networks within the urban mobility ecosystem.
The program of the Doctoral Training Network (DTN) offers doctoral candidates the opportunity to connect with peers at universities throughout Europe while strengthening technical expertise and fostering entrepreneurial and innovative skills. The DTN program is customizable and complements the individual candidates' doctoral research. It aims to build a community that creates real solutions for more sustainable urban mobility.
