IGSSE Board Elections 2025

Being a speaker and work on the IGSSE Board is an ideal opportunity for young scientists to gain valuable experience in committee work for their further academic career and to deal with topics at the IGSSE beyond their own discipline and research. You will gain a good understanding of how the IGSSE and the university works behind the scenes and have the opportunity to bring in your own ideas to shape the future of the IGSSE. You will further be able to sharpen and improve many important soft skills, such as negotiation and team-leading skills. Especially the review process for new project proposals can be a valuable learning experience for your own future project proposals.

Speakers of Doctoral Researchers

Important tasks of the speakers of doctoral researchers include:

  • Participation in the meetings of the IGSSE Board as Speaker for Doctoral Researchers (usually 2-3 meetings per year),
  • Review and selection of project proposals,
  • Contact for your doctoral colleagues at IGSSE,
  • Contribution to the concept and further development of the qualification programme and its coordination with the university board and TUM-GS,
  • Representation of the IGSSE doctoral researchers in the TUM Graduate Council,
  • Organisation of networking events for the doctoral researchers of IGSSE.

In order to be in line with the TUM Graduate School standards, all doctoral researchers can vote in the elections, provided that they have been IGSSE members since 35 days before the start of the election.

Doctoral Candidates - Application Form

The election is expected to be held online from June 13th to 27th. If you have further question on the position and the workload, do not hesitate to get in touch with your current speakers Laura Hainke, Vivian Papadopoulou and Jan Marco Ruiz de Vargas at doc-speaker.igsse(at)tum.de. 

Speakers of Postdocs (CPD/PTLs)

Important tasks of the speakers include:

  • Participation in the meetings of the IGSSE Board as Speaker for Postdocs (CPD/PTL; usually 2-3 meetings per year),
  • Review and selection of project proposals,
  • Contact for your postdoc colleagues at IGSSE,
  • Contribution to the concept and further development of the qualification programme and its coordination with the university board and TUM-GS,
  • Organisation of special trainings for IGSSE postdocs and networking events.

In order to be able to participate in the elections, the postdocs need to be involved in a IGSSE project since 35 days before the start of the election.
