Summer School Cohort 2024/25
The JADS Summer School for the 2024/25 cohort took place on 17 July 2026 and brought together researchers from TUM and Imperial College London to discuss the cohort’s theme, “Health Resilience in a Changing Environment: Particle Pollution and the Human Health Challenge.”
In his welcome address, Prof. Percy Knolle, TUM Academic Lead, highlighted the importance of the longstanding collaboration between TUM and Imperial College London and emphasized the value of strengthening partnerships beyond the current JADS cohort. The academic leads are committed to fostering sustainable benefits from the JADS network through future cohort-wide meetings and expanded collaborative activities involving all TUM and Imperial partners.
A keynote lecture was delivered by Dr. Sebastian Beggel, Group Leader at the Chair of Aquatic Systems Biology at TUM. His engaging presentation provided insights into plastic particle pollution in aquatic ecosystems and its impact on environmental and organismal health.
The Summer School featured a full day of workshops and project presentations by PIs and doctoral researchers. All five project teams were represented in person by the TUM researchers, while colleagues from Imperial College London joined in a hybrid format.
The Summer School will continue with a second event in autumn 2026, when the cohort will visit the Chair of Aquatic Systems Biology in Freising for further scientific exchange and networking.
